It looks like programmable real time display for Tesdata MS (management system?) mentioned in Computerworld December 31, 1975/January 5, 1976, page 30

Displays (P)BG12201 are used in older PPM audio displays made by German RTW (look for it in archive part of their page) and in better mixing consples. Vishay Dale manufactured them but he got bored a few years ago. 🙁 They gave a resolution that the LED indicators could not achieve.

Those aren't chips inside the tubes. They're spacers to hold the glass off.

From my profession I knew Burroughs quite well but never knew they sold discrete components as well. Maybe they initially developed the whole system for internal use and OEM-ed it afterwards.

Did you ever turn it back on to see if the display with the chipped corners still works (hope so, those displays are cool..)?

My guess is that it displays up to 16 signal voltage levels as bars, with latching to show peak (or min/max) levels as dots. I first thought it was an audio level meter, except the 0-100 markings make little sense, as audio would be a scale from -100 to 0 to +6 or +12 dB. The 0-100 might have been to monitor sixteen different indoor ambient Celsius temperatures in a lab or industrial application. With some added circuitry it might be turned into a cool retro-looking 16-channel VU meter for a recording studio.

    But can it play Crisis?!?!

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jimmyhaflinger says:

This would make a nice audio spectrum display
