This 16mm film from my collection is a slice of life in the American suburbs in 1966. Do they even show anything like this to people who drive today? I don't know - but they should. As always I transferred this film with my own Telecine. Enjoy!

I remember seeing this video in high school around โ€˜67. Thx for sharing.

Damn skippy they should show this to more people, especially in cities. I had a whole high school track team swarm my car once, at an intersection from the back-right side (from my perspective). The fact I was just letting off the brake was all that prevented someone being seriously hurt…

I swear I saw this 20 years later in the mid-80's, maybe during driver's ed?

looks like LA…thank you Encyclopaedia BriFrannica now fast-forward 56 years & add in the phone zombies & kids listening to music with noise cancelling ear buds totally oblivious to what's going on around them…

Excellent video, Fran. Sometimes, the older lessons, still apply today!

does anyone have a face to the voice? I think his voice was used in countless documentaries of the 50s/60s

Having witnessed a young girl being hit by a speeding car, it makes you understand the dangers of crossing the road. Poor girl was thrown about 15' into the air before coming back down onto the bonnet of the car and through the windscreen. She didn't stand a chance.

"Every driver is on his way to somewhere" . To my eye, it seems that many of them are on a road to nowhere๐Ÿ˜‰! (Note also that the script was written to reflect a patriarchal male point of view).

Don't forget the people that walk in front of you on purpose and DARE you to hit them.

    Great film

I was hit 3 times before before the age of 14…once intentionally. I was slapped by sideview mirrors twice, and hit with a beer bottle thrown from a car. None of them stopped.
I never told my parents because I thought they'd make me stay at home. Got skinned up and some bruises, and one broken pair of glasses.
Now, you have people staring at their phone while walking……

How long until the copyright claim arrives?
