It seems that my first series of videos after returning from my sabbatical are going to be about the numerous problems that I have been having to deal with in the Lab for the past couple months, and the first in this "Problem Series" is a rant about the issues I have been having with my BluAir HEPA filter machines, specifically with the top end activated carbon filters.

Blueair doesn't certify its filters as high-efficiency particulate absorbing filters (HEPA) for a simple reason, their products are not independently tested, therefore they statements in relation to their products quality is irrelevant and most likely deceiving. I bought a blueair blue 3210 air purifier but honestly I can't tell if it is actually doing what it is supposed to be doing. In addition to this there is no guarantee that these machines are actually not producing ozone, therefore it would be rather naive to think that their quality and safety tests reflect accurate performance. I can't recommend Blueair at all. As a matter of fact when you receive your air purifier you will only receive the air purifier instructions and there is no mention whatsoever about the quality of the air that is released back in you space…. Just stay away from Bluair , pay a little bit more and buy from a reputable brand.

i know its 2 years ago, but id sugest to buy the sharp devices their technology is called ion Plasma Cluster blueair is basically a copy of that, never had issues with sharp+

Fran dunno who you are I found myself here because I found one of these machines for free but it wonโ€™t turn on so Iโ€™m trying to fix thatโ€ฆ. But hereโ€™s the important part you and every other person shouldnโ€™t need to justify a consumer complaint. We deserve to get what we paid for! And if the company doesnโ€™t deliver we are entitled to much more than an answer (even though you didnโ€™t get that!) Fight for your consumer rights!!

I bought a 200 series machine several years ago and did not experience any issues with the initial filter. Then I purchased replacement filters which emitted the most foul chemical odor upon opening the package. I left the filters to โ€œbreatheโ€ thinking maybe the packaging had caused the odor. The chemical smell took on a life of itโ€™s own over the course of a week- growing to the point of filling a 1200 square foot area and causing severe migraines. I repackaged the filters and contacted BluAir after seeing others had reported the same issue. I never received a response from BluAir and was forced to discard the rather pricey filters after the stench continued to overpower the space and I could no longer bear the discomfort. I now have an expensive machine which I cannot use and I would certainly never recommend BluAir to anyone.

Iโ€™ll be very honest. I have 3 units and they are awesome. I had an issue with one and customer service responded to my email in one day and had a replacement at my house in less than a week. Im going to buy one more Thai week

I am having the same problems with my filters

It really sounds like ozone reacting.

They seem to have rebranded their entire line of air purifiers as well. They look nothing like that currently. Seems a bit shady. Also, I read somewhere that they donโ€™t use true HEPA filters but a type of HEPA filter. I would stay away.

Was there ever any update on this?

I had the Blueair 211+ Auto that emitted an unclean "dirty laundry" smell. Blueair did not respond to my complaints so I returned it to Amazon for a refund. I also have the Blueair Dust Magnet that makes the air smell fresh and clean so something was definitely wrong with the 211+ Auto.

What chemicals are you using in your lab? I've had one of these for years and it's never smelled

Glad I found your video, I was considering purchasing this product but their response (or lack of) is a real turn off. I'd be ok if they owned up to it and made it right, every company has it's hiccups but to just ghost you, nope, I won't buy their product.

So is the problem solved ?
