There is just a ton of misinformation and misunderstanding here. SawStop is a fantastic product and the safety data shows that. If this was merely a patent troll, they would not go to the lengths they do to make these absolutely fantastic saws. Quite apart from the technology these are some of the very finest saws on the market, equal in quality and construction to PowerMatic and the other top notch cabinet saws. I would never have any other in my shop.

Fran, Thanks for this. I am a woodworker who now owns a SawStop cabinet saw. On a prior saw I was ripping a board with the blade just barely protruding through the top of the board. While I was reaching for my push stick with one hand, my other hand's thumb found the spinning blade. No amputation but many stiches. I am a believer in the technology. Thanks to you and Scott for this story.

Interesting video that would have been better it both of them did a little research on Saw Stop saws. You can cut green wood by turning off the sensor.
If it becomes mandatory
then the government will have to release the patent
The other companies just need to pay to use the technology.
I run a cabinet shop we have three. As far im concerd they work no question,they work and have already save some fingers, For all the shops out ther dont use one are setting your self up for a law suit!!! I know the technoligy when the first start they were making retro fit kits for delta and powermatic saw, the went to the large mfg and tryed to get them to partner No taker so guess what … they went and built a better quality saw than powermatic or delta. POWERMATIC is now maufactured in china DELTA is out of business. good for them.

The SawStop patent lawyers should design a GunStop instead.
