3 concussions plus a fractured skull in Vietnam 1969-70. I suffer severe pressure pain on the right side of my head everyday of my life. I just take hydrocodone pills 10mg 3-4 x a day. I use Voltaren on my neck where I have 4 titanium cages. Plus tinnitus and dual vertigo. I am 72 now so life does go on, I watch a lot of tv. Mostly noir movies. God Bless !

Wow. Don't know how I missed this one, but I know how you feel. Have sustained three, maybe four, concussions and serious head knocks over the years, the initial trauma and time required to recover is a real handful. My heart goes out to you. <3

Not familiar with concussion. But I am familiar of what happens when you have a head injury and part of your brain is removed. Here, the world then proceeds to treat you as if your a r e t a r d e d person. Your teachers will treat you like crap and make fun of you again and again. Relatives will speak down to you as though you are now nothing of value. Due to now having difficulty remembering things, you drop from being at the top of the class to dropping all the way to the bottom and then failing a grade, and then you drop out of school. The world then treats you as though you are 100% worthless. But, I decided to prove them wrong. Dropping out of school of course led to me having no physics education what so ever. Wow you have a great description of the mechanics of the trauma, I smacked my head three times in the same way in one day due to chickens getting in my way as I was exiting the chicken house.
I was aware of the egg on my head, not the chicken laid kind, but impact into a 4×2 kind three times. But it was a bit fuzzy walking, back to the house, and my sense of smell got really sensitive, even my cat smelt like a hundred really stinky wet dogs. Drank a glass of water and the water tasted really gross, like it was full of aluminium, and dirt. I had to go out to a meeting, and once sat down, I was told later that I was saying random words that had nothing to do with the conversations. They called my Wife and I was taken to the doctor, but somehow, was seen by a nurse, and people kept prodding me to stay awake. Not sure what happened after that, but a couple of days later, I awoke to fur in my face and loud purring, My cat was sleeping on my chest.
My face felt numb for days, and I was not really in control of my body, it was like 'me' the brain was sitting in a human sized robot that took forever to do what I wanted, and so "I" stumbled and moved weird as there was a delay from each move command to I received feedback of the resultant movement.
I think the reason for the numbness was the size of the 'egg' pulling the skin tight, like some kind of wrinkle removing stretch.
Anyway a few days rest and I am back to my normal grumpy self.
The weirdest thing to me was the retrospective amnesia. The whole thing that lead up to the accident I couldn't remember (just a few seconds). The first moment I do remember is having my face planted on the asphalt, my bike over me, and then all tumbling down into a heap.
There were no witnesses, so the whole "if a tree falls in the forest" question started to mill in my head.
