It's so good to see you back in there! Gosh I love that workbench, what a beauty. How many years has it been kicking? It has a delicious patina.

Adam Savage use the term "Lathe'ing" all the time

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars VWestlife says:

Merriam-Webster includes "lathe" and "lathing" as verbs, so I'd say it's fine to use the word that way. And a 100-year-old word that needs to come back is "entony" (noun): the state of a radio receiver or musical instrument being properly tuned.

…Wh— what are you supposed to say instead of latheing??

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Barry Ford says:

Latheing is definitely a thing! The lather diode was developed so that lathers (i.e. people who lathe) could check the diameter of their workpiece without having to stop the machine and get out the calipers. Among musicians who lathed were The Small Faces (Lathey Sunday Afternoon) and The Kinks (Latheing On A Sunny Afternoon). The well-known rotating serving platter was developed by a lather call Susan, aka Lathey Susan. Not a lot of people know that!
