You should do a 1943
Coolest intro I've ever seen
I love smashed pennies!
I have on with texts "Apollo" & "Kennedy space center" on it. Looks like one not made out of coin. My late uncle visited U.S. around 60's-70's. Got it from him along with some space themed postal stamps froim early 70's.
Cool ๐
Thanks Fran
I remember seeing something like this on The Geek Group years ago except they didnt squash it they used a very high voltage and it shrunk the thing. I am sure they used what you call a Quarter. It was on Chris Boden's channel.
For best quality pressings, I almost always use pre-1959 "wheat cents" when rolling souvenir pennies. I buy rolls of those from coin dealers for the purpose. It would also be great if those machine accepted half dollar coins because that would make them much easier to use.
When i was a kid i always wondered what happened to the quarters
They have one at Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex. Ran out of quarters and pennies.
My parents collect them from all over in their travels
In many countries, such desecration of the leader's image on a coin would be punishable by a visit from the secret police, a beating, and a hefty fine. Strange then that US citizens who revere their flag like a holy relic, are happy to deface their country's symbols on coinage.
Omg I was ten yrs old in 1967 and on my 1st of many visits to the Franklin Institute, where I used the penny smasher machine! Thanks for a wonderful trip back in time Fran
you know, I remember doing this as a kid back in the 70s, except we didnt use this machine, we did it using the far safer responsible technique of putting it on the railway track and waiting for a passing train to do the squish then jump back down onto the tracks to search for it ! wth were we thinking
Probably as illegal then as it would be now, ๐
Cool. The engraving makes up for the less-than-life-threatening process that produced it. As a kid, I used a vastly different approach to get my pennies flattened.
Isn't this illegal?
Wow, I've never seen one of those machines in use before. I thought they actually etched coins; seeing it just crush them is a bit of a disappointment.
