probably what was written on the plastic mold was "Chinesium Crap
    for export only"

I think you should make a time machine or something like that.

It was the Lazer Star; fairly nice device.

I had one that was fairly well made, and I can't remember what it was called (star "something"). It plugged in. It sent points of light in motion which varied in size. Once in a while, a stray streak of light would pass through the pattern like a comet. It was quite romantic and I paid more than $200 for it retail.

Don't worry, Fran – you do not EVER disappoint!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜Š

The door does not have a latch to force you to use the screw to keep it closed and keeping the device safe for kids.

The 3-battery thing perplexes me. I mean, I've found that cheap LED lights (and such) will operate adequately on two. My solution is to make an AA- or AAA-sized cylinder out of tin foil.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alan King says:

They probably aspired to selling the product in europe, here all products for children or a child's room have to have secure battery covers, to stop children (Who we all know are stupid) from eating the AAs.

    Rubbish

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Dickerson says:

Fran, your humor never fails to make me smile…"OK, Well ?" And there you have it. That JWST has nothing on this little beauty.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack Demus says:

I have a similar unit, and was disappointed that you can't focus the light, it is only sharp if placed in a very small area.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars marcialynn3 says:

I got the same one at dollar tree for $1.25.

Whenever flying through space one must be sure to secure all hatches.

    N'es pas deranger?

    Do not disembowel the product.

The lack of a latch might be a cost saving measure for the mold used for the plastic. When designing an injection-molded part you have to consider how the pieces of the mold come together to create the hollow to be filled with plastic, as well as how they release the part. The simplest shapes can be formed by two dies, but as you make more complicated shapes you need more die pieces and you have to figure out how to move the pieces to release the part without damaging it. My friend designed a part, and when he had it analyzed for manufacturability the guy told him it would be hella expensive due to all the holes, and suggested some modifications to simplify the dies.
